Ewa Mendys-Kamphorst is a Partner at CEG and leads the Rotterdam office. She has expertise in applying insights from economic theory to analyzing competition and regulation cases.
Ewa joined CEG from OPTA, the Dutch telecom regulator. While at OPTA, Ewa advised on the regulation of mobile and fixed termination tariffs, wholesale broadband access and radio transmission services. Her particular focus was on quantitative welfare analysis and market definition. She has also set up a process for systematic collection and analysis of data on markets for postal services.
Prior to OPTA, Ewa worked at Erasmus Competition and Regulation Institute, affiliated with Erasmus University in Rotterdam. She advised on competition and regulation cases in a number of sectors, such as telecom, bicycle manufacturing, insurance and liberal professions. She also advised the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, for instance on the relationship between competition and intellectual property rights.
Ewa holds a PhD in economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Her thesis consists of several essays within the field of industrial organization. Chapters of the thesis have been published in Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and Journal of Evolutionary Economics. She gained her undergraduate degree in economics from the Cracow University of Economics in Kraków, Poland. Ewa is fluent in English, Polish and Dutch.
