Paul Muysert is an expert in the economics of competition policy and regulation, with over 20 years’ experience in economic and financial analysis. Paul has particular experience in network industries, including telecommunications, transport, and financial services. His competition experience includes cases in the aviation, banking, bus, dairy manufacturing, shipping, steel and rail industries.
Paul has extensive experience of competition law and regulation issues in a number of jurisdictions, including the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. He has provided expert economic evidence to the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, UK High Court, and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission. He has also acted as a testifying expert in a number of International Arbitrations at the International Arbitral Centre of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
Paul has considerable experience in the Telecoms sector, including in developing cost models and conducting cost-benefit analysis of regulatory proposals. He has worked both for private clients and regulators in the Telecoms sector.
Prior to joining CEG Paul has also worked for CRA International as an economic consultant based in London, as a principal economist in the competition group of UK Office of Communications (Ofcom), and has held positions in the New Zealand Commerce Commission, the UK Competition Commission. Paul has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree with first class honours in economics from the University of Auckland.
